About Import Dates: These change frequently for a host of reasons: customs, transportation, communication issues, etc. They usually fill but sometimes weeks after the published date. Treat them as guidelines only.
Special order. We may not stock this in the shop, but we'd be glad to order one for you. Orders placed less than 30 days before release typically fill, but on allocated products there's a greater chance they won't or will be delayed. If it doesn't fill, which is rare, we'll give you a full refund.

Description
The complete album + bonus track - limited edition pressing on 180g blue coloured vinyl, contains new specially prepared liner notes by Penguin Guide to Jazz's writer Brian Morton and the prestigious French publication, Jazz Magazine. The legendary tenor saxophonist Ben Webster really hit his stride on the Verve label, and particularly with Soulville. This 1957 date with the Oscar Peterson Trio is one of the highlights of that golden '50s run. After starting off with two bluesy originals, Webster gets to the heart of things on five wistful ballads. Providing sympathetic counterpoint, Peterson forgoes his usual pyrotechnics for some leisurely compact solos; his cohorts - guitarist Herb Ellis, bassist Ray Brown, and drummer Stan Levey - are equally assured and splendid. Includes the bonus track "Tenderly".
