Pitney Meyer taps into the sound and spirit of Appalachia on the duo’s introductory album, Cherokee Pioneer. Friends and multi-instrumentalists Mo Pitney and John Meyer display their front porch sensibilities with banjo, mandolin and rich harmonies decorating 11 originals that explore the folklore of their ancestors. A blend of mournful eulogies and jubilant spirituals, the duo’s full-length debut weaves a tapestry of vivd imagery and complex arrangements showcasing a talented bluegrass brotherhood, whose jam sessions turned into a residency at Nashville’s iconic Station Inn.
