Description
60th ANNIVERSARY REISSUE. Official RSD UK 2025 selection.
James Moody explores the full range of his artistry on this record - from flute passages to horn work - capturing a musician at ease with both tradition and innovation. Moody gained early fame as a member of Dizzy Gillespie’s big band, with his legendary improvised solo on “I’m in the Mood for Love” which became the foundation for the classic vocalese hit “Moody’s Mood for Love.” A pivotal figure in the bebop era, Moody’s six-decade career showcased his mastery on jazz flute, alto and tenor saxophones, credits as a composer and arranger, and collaborations with icons such Quincy Jones, John Coltrane and Herbie Hancock.
